JavaScript loops

JavaScript loops repeat work. They are useful when the same kind of action applies to several items or needs to continue until a condition changes.

Where this idea appears

Totaling a list of quantities or preparing a label for each task involves a repeated pattern. Recognizing that pattern is a useful part of understanding program behaviour.

Repeated actions still concern individual items

A loop expresses repetition without writing a separate instruction for every item. A list of reminders might need each entry considered for display. The repeated work has one purpose, while the information changes from one entry to the next.

Repetition can also alter information that later work depends on. Counting completed tasks and changing which tasks are complete are different operations. Separating those meanings helps make a loop's effect easier to follow, especially when the collection changes.
