Flutter layout and widgets
Flutter widgets describe parts of an interface, while layout determines how those parts share the available space. A useful screen needs both structure and room for its content.

A card with an icon and a title should still make sense when the title is longer or the screen is narrower. Layout is about adapting the presentation to those situations.
Content length can change a layout's needs
A widget tree describes how interface parts relate to one another. A row, a column, and a scrollable area give content different kinds of space. The same set of labels may fit comfortably in one arrangement and need more room in another.
Real content also varies. A translated label or a longer task title can occupy more space than a short sample. Understanding those relationships helps explain why layout is about how components share constraints, rather than placing each one at a fixed point.
