Python is often used for small programs and data tasks; JavaScript connects naturally to interactive web work. Mobile development introduces other choices, including Dart with Flutter.
The intended activity gives a language context
A first language makes more sense when connected to what someone wants to understand. Browser interactions, simple automation, and mobile interfaces involve overlapping concepts but different environments. A language's popularity alone does not describe the whole experience of working in one of those environments.
The first choice also does not have to define every later choice. Values, conditions, repetition, and functions recur across languages. Recognising those shared ideas makes a later transition less like starting from nothing, even when the syntax and tools change.
