Mobile local storage
Local storage keeps selected information on a device beyond the current session. It is different from a value that exists only while a screen is open.

Download on the App Store ↗Where this idea appears
A reading goal or a display preference may need to survive closing the app. Deciding what should be remembered is part of defining how the feature works.
Memory and saved information have different lifetimes
A value held while an app runs can disappear when the process ends. Local storage provides a way for some information to remain available later. A selected preference and a large downloaded document are both saved information with different purposes.
Local storage also belongs to a particular device or app installation. Seeing a saved item there does not automatically mean it is available on a second phone. This separates persistence from synchronisation and makes expectations about returning to an app clearer.
