A row-and-seat pair has meaningful positions, while a group of attendees may only need to record each person once. The shape of the information helps explain the choice.
Fixed groupings and unique membership solve different problems
A tuple groups values in a sequence whose entries cannot be reassigned. A pair of coordinates is an example of information where the positions have distinct meanings. A set focuses on membership and uniqueness, such as the different categories represented in a collection.
These structures answer different questions. A coordinate pair asks what belongs in each position; a set of categories asks whether a category is present. Removing duplicates and preserving a meaningful sequence are separate needs, even when both involve several values.
