How to Make a QR Code Scanner App: Quick Overview
Making a QR code scanner app means turning a detected code into readable information and a clear next action. Camera imagery, decoded text, and the action offered to a person are separate parts of the experience.

A museum code might contain a web address, while another code contains plain text. A scanner can recognise both without the same action being appropriate for each. Showing what was read gives the result context.
Recognising a code does not verify its destination
ML Kit documents scanning and parsing structured barcode data on the device. Decoding a web address says what the code contains; it does not establish that the destination is trustworthy or that it will be available.
Detection and the displayed result happen at different moments
A camera can encounter the same code in several consecutive frames. The interface needs a coherent idea of whether it is still scanning, has found a result, or is waiting for a person to choose an action. Those states help make repeated detection understandable.
A saved scan history introduces another layer: a record of what was detected earlier. That record may remain useful even when the original code is no longer in front of the camera. Live input and stored results therefore serve different purposes.
