What do input and output mean in Python?
Python input is information a program receives; output is information it sends back. A person typing into a terminal and a program displaying a message are familiar forms of this exchange.

Imagine a small travel budget tool asking for a destination and showing a summary. The answer it receives is input, while the summary is output. Text entered at a terminal starts as text even when it looks like a number; interpreting its meaning is a separate part of the program.
Information crosses a boundary
Input is information a program receives; output is information it produces. A person entering a quantity and a program displaying a total are one familiar pairing. Files, other programs, and connected services can also sit on either side of that boundary.
The format matters as well as the content. A quantity displayed with a currency symbol is useful to a reader, while a calculation may need the numeric amount separately. Receiving, interpreting, and presenting information are related responsibilities with different purposes.
