What are HTML forms?

HTML forms group controls that let people enter or choose information on a web page. Search boxes, contact forms, and registration screens are familiar uses of form controls.

From entering details to sending a request

A booking form might collect a name and a preferred date. The controls gather information, while a server or application handles what happens after submission. Visible fields alone do not create storage or an account.

Collecting information and accepting it are different

A form brings together fields, labels, and actions. The fields describe what information a person can provide, while labels explain its meaning. A booking request might include a date and an email address, but those fields serve different purposes in the eventual request.

A browser can help identify some missing or unsuitable values before submission. The receiving service still has to decide whether the request is valid and permitted. This separates the experience of entering information from the responsibility of accepting it.
